The fastest robot to solve a 4x4x4 puzzle cube is 9.80 seconds, and was achieved by Hayden Watson, Johann Torres, Maz Cameron and Caleb Everitt (All New Zealand) in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 16 October 2026.
In preparation for their record attempt, the team spent a year developing and refining their robot, which uses four cameras to recognise the cube's colours and high-speed drone motors to solve the puzzle.
