The fewest fights to win a boxing world title is one, achieved by Choi Hyun-mi (South Korea, b. North Korea), who won the vacant WBA women’s featherweight title on 11 October 2008 in Jinan County, South Korea.


Choi Hyun-mi defeated China’s Xu Chun Yan by unanimous decision to become a world champion in her first professional fight. Aged 17 years 339 days, she is to date the youngest female boxing world champion. Born in North Korea, her family defected to South Korea in 2004. She fights under the nickname “Defector Girl Boxer”.
