On 4 October 2013, US company Boston Dynamics released footage of its prototype WildCat four-legged robot. Powered by a two-stroke petrol engine, WildCat can run using a galloping gate, at up to 25 km/h across flat terrain. WildCat is designed to be used in future military applications. Boston Dynamics was bought by Google in December 2013.
