The most visited art gallery (current) is the Musée du Louvre in Paris, France, which welcomed 8,737,000 visitors in 2024 according to the latest Global Attractions Attendance Report, compiled by TEA/AECOM and published in October 2025.

Covering a total area of some 360,000 m² (3,875,000 sq ft) on the Right Bank of the River Seine, 86,000 m² (925,700 sq ft) of which is open to the public and 70,000 m² (753,470 sq ft) is exhibition space, the Louvre palace complex is also the world’s largest art museum. Its collection comprises nearly 480,000 pieces of art collected by numerous French monarchs, including sculptures, paintings and artefacts from across Egyptian, Greek and Roman history. One of the most notable attractions in the museum is The Mona Lisa, painted c. 1503–06 by Leonardo Da Vinci.

The Louvre was the most visited museum in Europe in the 2025 Global Attractions Attendance Report. Having sat at the top of the list for several years running, it came in fourth overall in the ranking based on 2024 visitor numbers. It was surpassed by three museums in China: the Palace Museum (with 17 million visitors), Chengdu Wuhou Shrine Museum (14.57 million visitors) and Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum (11.61 million visitors).
