The youngest skip to win the World Women's Curling Championship is Eve Muirhead (UK, b. 22 April 1990), who led Scotland to victory aged 22 years 336 days in Riga, Latvia, on 24 March 2013. Scotland beat Sweden in a thrilling final that went down to the last stone, the final score being 6-5. In the semi-finals they had beaten the strong Canadian team 8-7 – the Canadian women would go onto win gold in the 2014 Olympics with Muirhead's side winning bronze.
