Discovered in Morocco in 2012, NWA 7325 is the first meteorite, of all those identified so far, that is thought to have originated from the planet Mercury. A total of 35 fragments of this meteorite were discovered, together weighing 345 g. Chemical studies of the meteorite show its composition is consistent with the latest results from the MESSENGER mission, currently orbiting Mercury. The meteorite is estimated to be around 4.56 billion years old.
