The youngest male athlete to win a medal in an IAAF World Athletics Championships relay event is Darrel Brown (Trinidad & Tobago, b. 11 October 1984), who won a silver medal with the Trinidad & Tobago 4 x 100 metres relay team aged 16 years 305 days at the eighth IAAF World Championships, in Edmonton, Canada, on 12 August 2001.
Brown was still running at Junior level at the time of his medal winning 100 metres at the World Youth Championships the same year and in 2002 he won the World Junior title in Kingston running 10.09 seconds.
