In the November 2013 report “Stolen Futures” (spanning the period from March 2011 to August 2013) by the authoritative Oxford Research Group, a total of 11,420 victims aged 17 and under are stated to have been killed in the Syrian civil war. Of that total, 389 were killed by sniper fire and some 764 summarily executed while more than 112 tortured.
In Iraq – according to the Iraq Body Count organisation – the total number of violent deaths for children in the period 2003–11 was 3,911 out of a total of 45,779 victims for whom age-related data was available.
