Up to and including the 74th (2022) edition of the Primetime Emmy Awards, comedy sketch series Saturday Night Live (NBC) secured 315 nominations across 47 seasons since its TV premiere in 1975. Among its nods ahead of the 74th ceremony on 12 September 2022 were Outstanding Variety Sketch Series (a category it went on to win for the sixth year in succession) and Outstanding Supporting Actor/Supporting Actress/Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (respectively, Bowen Yang, Kate McKinnon and Jerrod Carmichael).
When it won Outstanding Variety Sketch Series during the Los Angeles, California-hosted 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, Saturday Night Live extended its trophy-winning tally to 87 (93 if you include specials and short-form programmes). Series producer Lorne Michaels (Canada/Israel/USA) has received the most individual Primetime Emmy nominations (98), winning on 21 occasions between 1974 and 2022.
