The Boeing B-52 jet bomber, which entered service with the United States Air Force in 1954, is the longest-serving, currently operational, bomber aircraft. With 59 years of operational service already, it is schedule to remain in use until 2044 and receive a further US$24.6 million of upgrades to increase its ability to carry smart weapons.
The Chinese Air Force has around 82 H6 jet bombers (Russian license-built Tupolev Tu-16s), which have also served for more than 50 years, but these came into service with the Chinese only in 1958.
