Cavers refer to vertical shafts for which climbers need ladders or ropes to ascend or descend. The Miao Keng Cave, near Tian Xing in China, contains a continuous, unbroken vertical shaft 501 m (1,643 ft) in height – almost 50 m taller than the Petronas Towers in Malaysia.
