The Rally Fighter was the first car designed though crowdsourcing. The off-road racer, produced by the US-based Local Motors company, represents the culmination of 35,000 designs by 2,900 community members from over 100 countries. It made its debut at SEMA on 3 November 2009.
The Rally Fighter is built around a welded steel tubular space frame with lightweight thermoplastic and carbon-fibre body panels. It is fitted with a BMW M57 clean diesel engine offering 425 lb/ft of torque and 265 horsepower. It includes an optional gun rack.
