The Sudwala Caves in Mpumalanga, South Africa, are a series of caves in Precambrian dolomite rock, around 3,800 million years old. The caves are believed to have formed around 240 million years ago. As well as providing shelter for prehistoric humans, the caves have also been used in more modern times as ammunition storage, a concert venue, and a source of bat guano, which was mined to be used as fertilizer.
