The youngest female boxing world champion is Choi Hyun-mi (South Korea, b. North Korea 7 November 1990), who won the vacant WBA women’s featherweight title on 11 October 2008 aged 17 years 339 days in Jinan County, South Korea.
Choi Hyun-mi defeated China’s Xu Chun Yan by unanimous decision to become a world champion in her first professional fight. Born in North Korea, her family defected to South Korea in 2004. She fights under the nickname “Defector Girl Boxer”.
