The largest horse racecourse by spectator capacity is the Tokyo Racecourse, Japan. Owned by the Japan Racing Association and holding up to 223,000 people, the track first opened in 1933 and was extensively updated in 2007. The oval turf track measures 2.083 m total length and 41 m across at its widest point.
