According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, the world’s largest producer of chicken meat is the USA. During 2011 (the most recent year for which records have been collated), the USA generated a staggering 17,114,000 (17.114 million) tonnes of chicken-based food products. This amounts to approximately 7 billion chicken carcasses. In second place was China's mainland with 11,556,091 tonnes of chicken meat generated.
