The New Orleans Saints set an NFL record with 40 first downs in a 49–17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on 10 November 2013. The Saints achieved 20 of their first downs passing, 15 rushing and five on Dallas penalties. The Saints broke the record of 39 first downs set by the Jets in 1988 and tied two other times (Redskins in 1990 and Texans in 2012).
