The first female wheelchair marathon athlete to complete the "Grand Slam" is Tatyana McFadden (USA), who won the Boston, London, Chicago and New York marathons in a single year during 2013.
At present the four wheelchair marathon majors are Boston, London, Chicago and New York. Tatyana McFadden was born in Russia and lived in an orphanage until the age of six before being adopted by an American family in 1994. McFadden won three gold medals at the 2012 Paralympics in London, and hopes to compete in Sochi in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
