The largest building used primarily for television broadcasting is that of China Central Television (CCTV) in Beijing, China. Designed by OMA architects with Arup engineers, and officially completed on 16 May 2012, the distinctive “cranked loop” headquarters boasts a 75-m cantilever. It is 234 m (768 ft) tall, contains 54 floors and cost €850 million to construct. The total floor space measures 473,000 m², and this includes an area of 65,800 m² for news production, an area of 31,800 m² for broadcasting, an area of 105,400 m² for programme production and an area of 61,500 m² for parking. Beijing residents have nicknamed it the "giant shorts".
