The fastest cross country 10 km carrying a 40 lb pack is 45 minutes 37 seconds and was achieved by Jacob Best (UK) in Bournemouth, Dorset, UK, on 6 March 2022.

Jacob has completed multiple charity challenges his inspiration comes from the armed forces. "I wanted to raise the profile of the intensity our elite soldiers put themselves through and obtaining Guinness World Records for carrying standard military weight, running off-road in boots over consecutive weekends was the perfect challenge to achieve this."

Training for the 10km along training for 4 other runs within one month, proved to be a challenge for Jacob. "I had always imagined. Combined with being a Dad of two young daughters, a husband and a business owner. My training schedule had to be strict and very regimented. To increase my speed, I did the majority of my shorter runs on a treadmill with my longer slower runs being carried out over hiller terrain and or along the soft sand of the beach. Training started 6 months prior to the challenges with the 10km being carried out on my 37th birthday. Each week consisted of 11 training session, a mixture of endurance, strength and conditioning plus speed work and stretching. It was 2 x sessions a day Monday - Friday with a long slow run carried out on a Saturday."

"I don't carryout my charity challenges for personal recognition and none were solely for a Guinness World Records title. That being said, it will personally mean the world and something that I hope with inspire the youth of today. Especially my own children. I believe that Guinness World Records, show that anything is achievable, big or small and with the right dedication, you summit whatever ambitions you have."
