Originally designed by Leonardo in 1502 to cross the Bosphorus in Istanbul, the bridge was finally constructed as a 100-metre-long, 8-metre-high wood-and-steel footbridge over the E18 motorway in Aas, Norway, in 2001. It was created by artist Vebjorn Sand with the Norwegian National Roads Authority.
