Asteroid 4Vesta, measuring around 525 km across, is the second largest asteroid in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Its most prominent feature is an impact crater some 505 km across at its south pole. Known as Rheasilvia, this crater has a central peak which rises around 20 km from the floor of the crater itself.
Rheasilvia has been imaged in detail by NASA's Dawn spacecraft, which entered orbit of 4Vesta on 16 July 2011.
