The most northerly summer Olympic Games were the Games of the XV Olympiad held in Helsinki, Finland – located at 60.1º latitude and 24.6º longitude – from 19 July to 3 August 1952.
Helsinki had originally been chosen to hold the 1940 Olympics, which were cancelled due to the outbreak of WWII. Coincidentally, the following Olympics held in Melbourne, Australia, are the most southerly to date.
