The youngest male athlete to win the IAAF World Cross Country Championships is Japhet Korir (Kenya, b. 30 June 1993), who was aged 19 years 266 days when he won the 2013 championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on 24 March 2013. Japhet Korir is only the second teenager to win the senior race, he finished in 32:45 just beating the defending champion Imane Merga. The cross country course is 12 km.
