The Sutter Buttes of California, USA, are the eroded remains of a volcano that was active around 1.6–1.4 million years ago. They are isolated within the flat-floored Sacramento Valley and reach a maximum height of 628 m (2,060 ft), with a base diameter of around 16 km (10 miles). Sutter Buttes is a privately owned nature reserve.
