Two men have won four consecutive Grand Slam singles tournaments since 1968. Rod Laver (Australia) won the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open in the same calendar year (1969), which still stands as a unique achievement in the open era. Novak Djokovic (Serbia) won the last two majors of 2015 (Wimbledon and US Open) and the first two Slams of 2016 (Australian Open and French Open). By winning the title in Paris in 2016, Djokovic completed a “Career Grand Slam” (winning all four major tournaments), the fourth man to do so in the open era after Andre Agassi (1999), Roger Federer (2009) and Rafael Nadal (2010).

Laver had first won four consecutive Grand Slams in the same calendar year in 1962. American Don Budge was the first man to complete a calendar-year sweep of the four majors, in 1938. Furthermore, Budge is the only man in tennis history to win six successive Grand Slams since the inauguration of the fourth Slam, the Australian Open, in 1905, winning Wimbledon and the US Open in 1937 before claiming all four titles in 1938. This run represented all six of Budge’s Grand Slam titles.

As of 2 November 2018, four players had won three consecutive titles in the open era: Pete Sampras (1993-94); Roger Federer (2005-06 and 2006-07); Rafael Nadal (2010); and Novak Djokovic (2011-12). After winning Wimbledon and the US Open in 2018, Djokovic has an opportunity to win three successive majors at the Australian Open in 2019.
