Four acts have achieved No.1 singles in seven consecutive years on the Official UK Singles Chart: Elvis Presley (USA) in 1957–63; The Beatles (UK) in 1963–69; Rihanna (Barbados) in 2007–13; and Ed Sheeran (UK) in 2017–23.
Elvis Presley: “All Shook Up” (1957) to “(You’re the) Devil in Disguise” (1963), including four No.1s in both 1961 and 1962. The Beatles: “From Me to You” (1963) to “The Ballad of John and Yoko” (1969), including three No.1s in each of 1963, 1964 and 1965 and two No.1s in each of 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969. Rihanna: “Umbrella” (2007) to “The Monster” (2013), including two No.1s in 2011. Ed Sheeran: “Shape of You” (2017) to “Eyes Closed” (2023), including two No.1s in 2017, three No.1s in 2019 and four No.1s in 2021. Sheeran continued his sequence in 2022 when “Merry Christmas” returned to the top spot on 6 January after two weeks at No.1 in December 2021.
