Since 1924-25, when it first became possible to win the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open as designated Grand Slam tournaments, Rafael Nadal (Spain) and Serena Williams (USA) are the only players to win each Grand Slam together at the same tournament. Respectively, the pair claimed the men's and ladies' singles titles at the 2009 Australian Open, the 2010 Wimbledon Championships and the 2013 French Open and completed the set by winning the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, USA, on 8-9 September 2013.
After their US Open success on 8–9 September 2013, Williams had won 17 Grand Slam titles and Nadal 13.
Wimbledon (founded 1877) is the oldest of the Grand Slams, followed by the US Open (founded 1881), the French Open (founded 1891) and the Australian Open (founded 1905). However, only Wimbledon was classed as a major tournament before 1924–25, and it was only possible to win all four tournaments as designated Grand Slams from this date.
