The richest milk produced by a species of bear is that of the polar bear Ursus maritimus, native to the Arctic Circle zone within Canada and Eurasia. It contains up to 48.4% fat, which is as rich as cream, but is vital in order to build up the fat reserves in polar bear cubs so that they can withstand their habitat's extremely cold conditions.
