Most sixes by a team in a Twenty20 International

Twenty-two sixes were hit by Afghanistan in a Twenty20 International (T20I) against Ireland at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, India, on 23 February 2019. Four Afghan batsmen contributed to the total, most notably opener Hazratullah Zazai, whose 162 not out – the second-highest individual score in T20Is – featured 16 sixes – the most sixes by a player in a T20I (male).

Usman Ghani (3), Mohammad Nabi (2) and Shafiqullah (1) supported Hazratullah’s six-hitting masterclass as Afghanistan racked up 278 for 3 – the highest-ever score by a team in a T20I (since equalled by the Czech Republic).

Three teams have hit 21 sixes in a T20I: West Indies (27 August 2016), India (22 December 2017) and Austria (31 August 2019).
