India (244 for 4) and the West Indies (245 for 6) served up a 489-run classic at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Broward County, Florida, USA, on 27 August 2016. At the time, they were the third- and fourth-highest team totals in the history of Twenty20 International cricket.

West Indies openers Evin Lewis (100) and Johnson Charles (79) and Indian duo KL Rahul (110 not out) and Rohit Sharma (62) led the onslaught as just two of the 12 bowlers on show escaped with an economy rate of less than 10 runs per over.

India’s 244 for 4 was the highest T20I score by a team batting second until it was beaten by Australia’s 245 for 5 in Auckland on 16 February 2018 (see below).

New Zealand (243 for 6) and Australia (245 for 5) came close to toppling the Lauderhill game’s run-fest with a combined total of 488 runs at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand, on 16 February 2018.
