Australia gloveman Brad Haddin broke a 30-year-old Test record when he claimed 29 catches in the 2013 Ashes series between England and Australia – despite his team losing the five-match series 3–0. Haddin pouched the record from another Australian wicket-keeper, Rod Marsh, who took 28 catches when England travelled "Down Under" for five Test matches in 1982–83. Haddin surpassed Marsh's record when he caught England's Joe Root, off the bowling of Ryan Harris, on day five of the fifth and final Test match of the series at the Kia Oval, London, UK, on 25 August 2013.

Haddin averaged 2.9 dismissals per innings during the series.

Rod Marsh, now employed as an Australian team selector, also has the third best series return for a wicket-keeper, taking 26 catches in a six-match series at home against the West Indies in 1975–76.
