We often think of 3D TV as a modern invention, but stereoscopic 3D television was first demonstrated by Scottish inventor John Logie Baird in his company's premises at 133 Long Acre, London, UK, on 10 August 1928. Baird pioneered a variety of 3D television systems using electro-mechanical and cathode-ray tube techniques, including simultaneous left-eye and right-eye images for true stereoscope viewing. It took until 12 April 2008, when Hyundai released the first 3D TV set in Japan, for 3D TVs to be sold in the commercial world.
