The largest species of carp or cyprinid is the Siamese giant carp Catlocarpio siamensis, also known as the giant barb. The national fish of Cambodia, the largest recorded specimen of this mighty species was 3 m in length, although the longest specimens currently reported are around 1.8 m. It is classed as "Critically Endangered" by the IUCN, and now occurs only in Indochina's Chao Phraya, Mae Klong, and Mekong river basins.
