The vast majority of shark species are exclusively marine in habitat, but the bull shark Carcharhinus leucas is a rare yet very notable exception. It has been found up to 3,700 km from the sea in the upper Amazon River, and also it occurs in the Zambezi, the Mississippi, the Hooghly, and several other major rivers around the world.
