The longest goal scored in a competitive football (soccer) match is 96.01 m (105 yds), and was achieved by Thomas King (UK), playing for Newport County against Cheltenham Town (Both UK), at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium, Whaddon Road, Cheltenham, UK, on 19 January 2021.

The Welshman Tom King scored a phenomenal goal from a goal kick surpassing the efforts of Asmir Begovic for a long-range strike back in 2013. This was the first time a goalkeeper had scored in the English Football League since Barry Roche for Morecambe against Portsmouth in February 2016.

When asked about the goal King said 'I didn't even know how to celebrate and I apologised to the other goalkeeper after the game...it's not nice to be on the other end of it'.
