In May 2013, Apple published a list of the top 25 most purchased iPhone apps of all time. Flying high in the number one spot was Angry Birds (Rovio, 2009), the most popular iPhone game and iPhone app overall. Games are by far the most popular type of paid-for content downloaded by iPhone owners – there are only four non-gaming apps on the list (WhatsApp Messenger, Camera+, MotionX GPS Drive and Color Splash).
