The fastest climb of the Nose of El Capitan was achieved by Mayan Smith-Gobat (New Zealand) and Libby Sauter (USA) in 4 hours 43 minutes on 31 October 2014. They knocked 19 minutes of the previous record, which they had set four days earlier. El Capitan is the tallest granite monolith in the world, at 1,095 m (3,593 ft) tall, located in Yosemite National Park in California, USA.

Smith-Gobat and Sauter held the previous record, too, which they set in 2013 with a time of 5 hours 39 min. Sauter, in turn, held the record prior to this, which she set in 2011, with Chantel Astorga, clocking a time of 10 hr 40 min.
