James Castrission and Justin Jones (both Australia) completed the first crossing of the Tasman Sea by kayak, travelling west to east aboard the customized double 9-m “Lot 41”. Castrission and Jones left Foster, Victoria, Australia, on 13 November 2007 and travelled 3,318 km (1,791.6 nautical miles; 2,061.7 miles) over 62 days, reaching New Plymouth, New Zealand, on 13 January 2008.
