First pop star in a sim videogame

Lou Bega – best known for his hit single "Mambo No 5" – appears as a dictator option in construction and management simulation game Tropico (PopTop, 2001). One of Lou Bega's singles was also included in the German edition of the game, while flyers for Tropico were given out with one of his albums.

Lou Bega appeared in the German game as a result of a "cross-promotional deal with Lou's manager" and owing to his music's popularity in that country. He was also featured in the North American release of the game, but the song was removed for being "a disco song stylistically out of place in the U.S.".
