The largest plastic floating raft is 21.81 m² (234 ft² 120 in²) and was achieved by Junior Chamber International Otaru (Japan) in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan, on 12 August 2018.
The raft consists of 2,872 plastic bottles. Students from all 18 local elementary schools participated in the attempt. The raft was launched onto Otaru Canal by a crane and met the requirement of staying afloat with one person onboard for at least one minute.
