Best-selling action-adventure series on PlayStation 1

The biggest-selling series in the action-adventure genre on the original PlayStation console was Tomb Raider (Core Design/Crystal Dynamics, 1996-present). Five games in as many years produced sales of 16.5 million on the Sony platform, and while Tomb Raider games were released on other platforms, the series quickly became synonymous with the PlayStation brand. Of the five Tomb Raider games released for the PS1, the individual best-seller was 1997’s Tomb Raider II which sold more than 5.2 million copies.
