Kratos's journey through Norse mythology in the semi-reboot God of War (Santa Monica Studio, 2018) is also his best-selling game to date. As of November 2022, the first adventure of Kratos with his son Atreus had sold 23 million units, according to an earnings report from the publisher Sony.

This is an update on a previous record for the same game. The sequel, God of War: Ragnarök (Santa Monica Studio, 2022) sold well, but did not surpass the prior game.
