The most own goals scored by a team in a single football match is 149 and was achieved by Stade Olympique de L'Emyrne versus AS Adema (both Madgascar) in the final game of the national championship in Toamasina, Madagascar, on 31 October 2002. Stade Olympique de L'Emyrne (SOE) took the unusual option of deliberately scoring own goals in protest at refereeing decisions in their previous match which they drew thus failing to win the league. Reports suggest that AS Adema players stood there bemused as their opponents continued scoring own goals. The coach of SOE, Zaka Be, was thought to be behind the protest and was later banned by the FMF (Malagy Football Federation) for three years.
