Across all games with at least 20 critic reviews, the PS2 version of EA’s 2001 outing Rugby ran in some match-winning tries as the most highly praised virtual game of rugger. Based on 25 reviews, the sim boasted an overall GameRankings score of 75.56% as of 2 March 2018. That put it marginally ahead of its series sequels Rugby 08 (74.87%) and Rugby 2005 (74.5%). Codemasters’ Jonah Lomu Rugby (1997) had a higher GameRankings score of 87.5%, but it was based on only one review.
