Blue Peter (BBC, UK) was first transmitted from London's Lime Grove Studios on 16 October 1958 and continues to be broadcast on the CBBC channel, a span of more than 54 years. The show's frequency has varied over the years, but it has run consecutively for 55 series, clocking up a total of 4,742 episodes as of 6 July 2013. Originally presented by Christopher Trace and Leila Williams (both UK), it has so far seen a total of 35 presenters (not including celebrity co-hosts or temporary hosts to cover absence), the longest serving being John Noakes (UK) who hosted from 1965 to 1978. First broadcast live once a week, from 1995 it went out three times a week (and for a few months a year, twice a week). In 2012, it moved from BBC One to CBBC, and currently airs once a week, every Thursday, with a repeat on Friday. As of 28/03/2003, there were 3,682 shows broadcast. On 15 October 2003, the show celebrated 45 years on the air.
