Not all of the Elder Scrolls games have been epic RPGs. In 1998, Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, a linear action-adventure videogame inspired by Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider and the first Elder Scrolls game outside of the RPG genre. This was also the first – and so far only – Elder Scrolls game not to allow the player to create their own character. The story instead followed Cyrus, a Redguard mercenary searching for his missing sister on the island of Stros M'Kai.
