The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, released in 1996, used a randomly generated map that covered a virtual 188,000 square miles of terrain – twice the size of Great Britain and the largest fixed size map of the entire series. It contained 15,000 towns and dungeons, and 750,000 non-player characters.
