Brandon Ashmore of Ohio, USA, got more than he expected when he installed word-association game Say the Same Thing (Space Inch, 2013) on 16 May 2013. It turned out to be the 50 billionth time an app had been downloaded from the App Store, and to celebrate Apple awarded Ashmore a $10,000 (£6,400) gift card.
This was even more of a bargain considering that the game is free.
