The highest grossing mobile game is Candy Crush Saga (King, 2012), which has generated $20 billion (£15.69 billion) in revenue, as of 27 September 2023.
The candy-coated puzzle game has been out for just over a decade, and in that time, it has been downloaded over five billion times. It challenges players with more than 15,000 different levels.
The president of King, Tjodolf Sommestad, believes Candy Crush Saga has proved that mobile games can have enduring appeal.
Behind it in this record are Tencent's 2015 hit Honor of Kings (aka Arena of Valor) and PUBG Mobile (2018).
